Painter's RV & Boat 1/2 marathon...

This weekend's adventure was off to St. George to run the painter's half-marathon. This was Clark's first ever half-marathon, in fact his first race ever. He did great. I'll admit I was a little nervous for him since his training consisted of about 2 weeks worth of running and one long run last week. But he kept right up and together we crossed the finish line in 1:55. No, we didn't break any records, or take first place... but we finished, we ran together, and it was a big accomplishment. Clark has always been there as my personal photographer at the finish line, but since he was in the race now we don't have any photos. But it was fun to have him there throughout the whole thing.

It was such beautiful weather. A little chilly... like 40 degrees-ish. Which is down right balmy compared to the 19 degree weather we've been training in. The sky was so blue (a far cry from the poopy-inversion in SLC), and the course had a little bit of everything. We started on the road, then hopped on a trail which led us into some neighborhoods, then back to the trail through a red-rock canyon, and over some bridges, up's and down's, then around a loop in bloomington, and back to the start. It really was great. They had orange slices at miles 8 and 10 which was like pure gold! I don't think anything has ever tasted that good. The whole time i was just thinking of how much i was looking forward to going to the Pizza Factory for dinner when we finished. I kept saying... "garlic twists" over and over to motivate me. Sure enough, we went there for dinner and i'm sure injested as many calories as we burned the whole race but what the heck!

We had a good time just hanging out at the condo with Cam, Rane, Collin, and Cache. Of course we wish we could have stayed longer, but alas... reality is waiting... it's almost monday again. sigh.
