happy birthday at Brighton

Today we celebrated Clark's birthday and cashed in on one of our Christmas presents to ourselves at the same time. Santa brought us two day passes to Brighton ski resort so we thought we would save them and use them on Clark's birthday which conveniently landed on a Saturday... and not just any Saturday... the most beautiful day of the year. Can I just say how refreshing it was to be out of the smog today?!? Anyone in SLC can relate right now... the inversion has been soooooo bad and today we finally got blue skies. It was so nice.

I think Clark and I have forever been ruined from 3 years worth of seasons passes so snowbird from 2003-2005 when Clark worked there. We were so spoiled, we would go up for a few hours here or there, we never had to feel committed to an entire day on the mountain. Even on a day as perfect and beautiful as today, we were completely wiped out by lunch. (and we didn't get there until 9:30am). sheesh, I think we're getting old. So we didnt' last until the last ski lift of the day... but we got in plenty of runs and lots of powder. I guess if we're only going to get up on the mountain once this year, we picked the best day to do it. So much fun. We were pleasantly surprised to discover they have installed a new high speed quad on Millicent. It's always just been a slow moving two seater lift on the far side of the mountain, however, it covers the best terrain. That one lift could get you to so many fun places, but it was always just such a bummer to have to ride the slow lift, so we were stoked to get there and discover a new quad. So here are a few pics from our day.

We celebrated the rest of Clark's b-day by going out to a new restaurant, settabello pizzaria, (which I highly reccomend) and overate pizza until we were sick! However, I don't reccomend going there at 6:30 on a Saturday night and having to compete with all the people in SLC for Sundance and the outdoor retailers show... we had quite a little wait (not that we minded much, we were just grateful to have a night out on the town with a babysiiter home with aspen). Now we're just getting ready to play with Clark's new toy (a PS2) and have some guitar hero face-off!!! Anyone is welcome over anytime to rock out with us!
