We celebrated a Big Birthday at our house over the weekend. Little Miss Aspen is getting to be not so little anymore... she turned 4! It was a fun birthday because she totally knew it was HER day! She's been so excited for her birthday to come. So it was fun that she knew the gifts and the cake and all the party was for her. But she's not old enough to remember all the times over the past few months whenever she wanted something in the store that I would say "put that back, maybe you'll get it for your birthday". Glad she hasn't figured that one out. We had a party on Sunday with just family... aunts, uncles, and cousins. It was a lot of fun, we had Hawaiian Haystacks for dinner, and Red Velvet Cake for dessert. (which I made by scratch, amazingly!) We're so glad the weather has finally started warming up (sort of), at least enough that all the kids could run around outside and we didn't feel quite as squished in the house as we usually do in the wintertime. Everyone ended up either inside watching "minute to win it", or outside in an improptu baseball game in the front yard. Eric was the only one who hit a homer... as in over the fence across the street and into the big field that the boys had to go retrieve the ball.
Good times! We love aspen so much, she is such a ball of energy around our house. Sometime good energy and sometime otherwise, but we love her! Happy Birthday!
