We had a fun and eventful Easter weekend, it started with a fun date night Saturday, thanks again to Dustin and Madalyn. Sunday morning we awoke to Aspen's first Easter basket experience. It was fun... she got Easter goldfish in her basket rather than Easter candy, she was already maxed out on candy from the previous week's Easter festivities at church and school. She loved it all the same!

Then we all splurged on CHOCOLATE waffles, with CHOCOLATE frosting, ICE CREAM, STRAWBERRIES, and WHIPPED CREAM! Yes, that was breakfast, if you can really consider it that! So yummy, i'll post the recipe for all to indulge... only on special occasions of course. I've heard of breakfast for dinner, but I'm not so sure that dessert for breakfast is a good habit to start.

After breakfast, we went to our church for an hour, then to clark's cousin's ward for her baby blessing.... (note to self: TWO sacrament meetings with a 3 year old= BAD IDEA!!!) Although it was crazy, it was fun to be with family on such a special day. Then we went from one family to the other for a much anticipated traditional Easter dinner at my mom's, complete with ham, yummy potatoes, rolls and strawberry shortcake for dessert (#2 for the day). Our dinner was also a birthday celebration dinner for my dad since his birthday is in the middle of tax season and rarely gets celebrated on his actual day. After we sung happy birthday to my dad, Aspen wanted a candle in her treat too... so we lit a candle in her strawberry shortcake and sang, "Happy Easter to you".

After dinner aspen set out on her annual Easter egg hunt in grandma's backyard. This year grandpa was "sneaky" as Aspen kept saying. He's in charge of hiding the eggs and he hid them really well this year, we even had to call him out to help find the last few. It was a lot of fun, Aspen was really into it this year... thanks mom and dad! And... CONGRATS on your mission call to serve in NEW ZEALAND!!!! We are so excited for you and proud of you guys! We also can hardly wait to come visit!!! Don't worry, we'll have our flights booked in no time. I think we devinitely will ahve to splurge on a portable DVD player or something like that to get our 3 year old through that long flight, but we're up for it!

Above all, and celebrations aside, we are so thankful for Easter and for the real celebration of our Savior. How blessed we are because of his gift to us.
