Happy Birthday Oliver

Wow, that year flew by!  Our littlest monkey turned one, so of course we had to celebrate!  We had a "sock monkey" themed party.

In accordance with my new years resolution to stop trying to make the cute birthday cakes (or any baked good that have to look good) that I see on pinterest... I went to swirly girls and bought these fabulous cupcakes that not only looked great, but tasted fantastic as well!

By the was it was Clark's birthday too (did I forget to mention that!)  Since this was Ollie's big year the focus was more on him.. but we had a yummy dinner that I'm sure Clark enjoyed more than Ollie!  We had Grandpa and Grandma K over, as well as the Kasteler's and the Swapp's.  Our yummy dinner was spicy BBQ pork sandwiches, jalapeno-cilantro cole slaw, seven layer chip dip, baked beans, and fruit pizza for dessert (along with the cupcakes).

Gotta love when all the kiddos are soooo willing to help the birthday boy open his gifts!

The sad part of the night came when it was finally time to sing happy birthday, blow out the candle, and dive into the cupcake.  Of course that's the exact moment the battery in the camera dies, and my phone doesn't have enough memory to capture any photos or videos.. grrr!  And Ollie was so great!  He did just was he was supposed to.  He started with just a little taste, then a bigger bite, and soon he was trying to smash the entire thing in his mouth all at once.  Soon he was covered completely with chocoate frosting.  He even kept the cute party hat on the whole time as well!  He was such a perfect party boy!

Well, I just have to say how much we love and adore little Ollie in our family.  I say little, but he's not really little.  At his one year check-up he measured about 60% in weight and 93% in height.  Yep, he has more in common with his daddy than just the same birthday!  He is so sweet and fun, and he's just about perfect in every way.  He's a good sleeper, and a good eater, and he's happy, funny, smiley, and cuddly!  What more could a mama ask for?!?  Can't think of anything.  Happy birthday little monkey, we love you!
